The actual assembly hacking of the game will not get started until at least next year rolls around. Until then, here are 2 screens of text being edited with different Japanese characters. All of the graphics are still compressed which makes editing them a real pain. That will all be taken care of later.

First Post

I am starting this blog with the intention of tracking my journey through my Japanese senior project. I am doing a fan translation of the game Goemon 2 for the SNES. The original Goemon (entitled Legend of the Mystical Ninja in the US) was the only one to be fully translated (albeit badly) and released in the US (on the SNES). Little does anyone know, but there were a total of 4 Goemon games released in Japan on the SNES during its lifetime. I have played all of them and can safely say that Goemon 2 is my favorite of these 4. Therefore, I have begun the translation of the game!!!

I hope to enlighten those who wish to do future translations by providing tips as to how I went about translating this game.

Currently, I am done with the first draft of the script. I am working on the second draft and hope to be finished with it by the end of this year.
